Red Hat (Nasdaq: RHAT) the world's leading provider of
Open Source Solutions to the Enterprise today announced that Red Hat
Enterprise Linux has been selected as the recommended Linux platform
for the x86, Itanium 2, and Opteron hardware architectures specified
in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Operating System Industry
Roadmap published by the EDA Consortium. Leading EDA software
companies such as Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Mentor Graphics and
Synopsys, Inc. have also demonstrated their support for Red Hat by
releasing products running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Red Hat, an Associate Member of the EDA Consortium, released Red
Hat Enterprise Linux v. 3 with a common code base on seven hardware
architectures including x86, Itanium 2, and Opteron in October 2003.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS is the enterprise-class client intended
for workstation use in historically Unix-heavy markets, such as EDA.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS has been regarded as a high- performance,
cost-effective solution for compute-intensive workloads.
